Yen Tran Project Vietnam 2010
My name is Yen Tran, and I am a rising 2nd year student (D'13) at Tufts University School of Dentistry.
At the age of seven, I immigrated to the United States from Vietnam. Since this time, I have not had the opportunity to return to my home country. However, this summer I hope to participate with the Project Vietnam Foundation during July 1st -15, 2010. This foundation hosts dental camps in Vietnam for poor families. The mission of the Project Vietnam Foundation is to provide health care assistance to at-risk children in poor rural communities and medical training for health professionals with the ultimate goal to improve health services for children. During this time, it is my goal to apply my knowledge of oral hygiene to educate Vietnamese patients. Additionally, I will work with dentists to provide dental assistance to patients with high levels of dental caries.
During these hard economic times, I am currently struggling to find the necessary funds to support my mission trip. Like many of citizens in this country, my family has been a victim to the unemployment crisis. The cost of the program including is airfare $2,800. With this in mind, I am asking for your financial support as I try to address this global oral healthcare crisis. Any amount that you choose to give is greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. This gift will give me the opportunity to use my skill and knowledge to make an impact in the world. With this gift, I hope to improve the healthcare system in Vietnam and help hundreds of Vietnamese patients that lack proper health care.
